We are seeking a highly strategic and results-driven Head of Commercial / Country Head to take full ownership of commercial strategy, business growth, and operational leadership across Africa. This role requires a seasoned executive with deep expertise in iGaming and Sports Betting, capable of leading large-scale business initiatives, securing key partnerships, and driving revenue across multiple markets. As the Country Head, you will oversee all aspects of the company's presence in South Africa while also spearheading expansion and operations across the African continent, ensuring commercial success, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Your key job responsibilities as the Country Head / Head of Commercial in Cape Town, South Africa will include:

  • Commercial Leadership & Strategy: Develop and execute the company's commercial strategy to drive revenue growth, expand market share, and maximize profitability across Africa.
  • Market Expansion & Business Growth: Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams to strengthen the company's position across multiple African markets.
  • Strategic Partnerships & Negotiations: Build and nurture high-value relationships with affiliates, payment providers, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders across different regions. Lead negotiations to secure favorable agreements that support long-term growth.
  • Operational Oversight: Take full ownership of country operations, ensuring alignment with global business objectives, optimizing processes, and improving operational efficiency across African markets.
  • Customer Acquisition & Retention: Oversee innovative strategies to attract, engage, and retain players across diverse African regions while driving customer lifetime value and optimizing player experiences.
  • Competitor & Market Analysis: Continuously monitor market trends, competitor activities, regulatory changes, and customer behaviors across Africa to refine commercial strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product development, finance, compliance, and other departments to ensure commercial objectives are effectively executed at both country and continental levels.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure full adherence to South African and pan-African gaming regulations, mitigating risks and safeguarding business operations.
  • Brand Representation & Thought Leadership: Represent the company at major industry events, conferences, and forums across Africa, positioning the brand as a leading player in the iGaming and Sports Betting sector.
  • People Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing commercial team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability across multiple African markets.

Requirements

Requirements for this Country Head / Head of Commercial job in Cape Town, South Africa:

  • Proven track record in a senior commercial or country leadership role within the iGaming and Sports Betting industry, with experience managing multi-country operations.
  • Extensive experience in commercial strategy, business development, and revenue generation within a highly competitive market.
  • Strong understanding of South African and pan-African gaming regulations, licensing requirements, and compliance frameworks.
  • Expertise in building and managing partnerships with affiliates, operators, and payment providers across different regions.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and commercial KPIs across multiple markets.
  • Outstanding leadership and communication skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders at a regional level.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while delivering measurable business outcomes.
