Senior Legal Advisor III

Senior Legal Advisor III (Cape Town or Johannesburg) Join FNB South Africa as a Senior Legal Advisor III, responsible for providing expert legal advice within the Personal Segment Advisory & Suites (PSAS) team. You will partner with business stakeholders across the bank, focusing on contract drafting, negotiation, privacy law compliance and legal risk management. Key Responsibilities Contracting: Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, develop templates and playbooks, collaborate with Procurement Legal, support contract lifecycle management, advise on governance. Privacy Law: Provide guidance on privacy legislation, conduct risk assessments, draft opinions, monitor regulatory changes. Legal Risk Management & Advisory: Maintain expertise on legislation, research and provide legal opinions, manage risks across initiatives, prepare reports, develop risk tools, collaborate with Group Legal, COEs. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Build relationships with business, compliance, operational risk, external partners, translate legal concepts into plain language. Experience & Qualifications Admitted attorney with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience (financial services preferred). Proven track record in drafting and negotiating complex contracts. Deep knowledge of privacy legislation (POPIA, GDPR, etc.) and experience in privacy risk management. Experience in legal risk management, regulatory interpretation, business‑focused advice. Strong stakeholder management, collaboration and communication skills. Self‑directed, able to manage competing priorities and thrive in high‑volume environments. Adaptability and learning agility in ambiguous contexts. Technological proficiency (preferred).
