Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test electrical control systems and instrumentation for industrial, commercial, and renewable energy applications.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts using CAD software.
  • Select, configure, and program PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and other control devices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate control systems into larger projects, including Micro Grids.
  • Specify and source appropriate instrumentation and components, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing control systems to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Design and manage systems involving generators, battery energy storage solutions, and PV installations.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and testing protocols.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance phases.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in electrical controls and renewable energy systems.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical control system design and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA integration.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
  • Familiarity with international standards and codes (e.g., IEC, NEC).
  • Good understanding of generators, battery energy storage solutions, PV systems (Micro Grids), electrical distribution MV and LV, and electrical metering.
  • Background in power plant control systems or PLC automation.
  • Technologically advanced with the ability to adapt to new innovations in the field.
  • Additional certificates in solar energy are highly beneficial.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DCS systems and advanced process control strategies.
  • Certification in instrumentation and control engineering.
  • Background in industries such as manufacturing, renewable energy, or process automation.

Location : Roodepoort mainly and sometimes in Rosebank office, Johannesburg

Salary range: R35 000-R80 000 CTC a month (depending on experience)

Starting date: As soon as possible.
