Overview AECOM is seeking an Engineer - Electrical (DATA Centres) to be based in South Africa's Enterprise Capabilities office in Durban. This position will support a team locally based in South Africa and Global Teams. The role offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement which accommodates both office and out-of-office work schedules. Job Description What you will do: The Engineer is responsible for developing designs through various project stages, undertakes coordination and carries out design documentation while working as part of the project team. Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment as an experienced engineer. Guides Candidate Engineers, provides design input to the CAD/BIM technicians, and works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and tests. Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer. Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures. Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests. Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered. Identifies discrepancies in results. Provides guidance to entry level engineers. Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision. Technical Excellence: Develops designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and project BIM models as per specific discipline requirement. Works on drawings under the supervision of an experienced Engineer. Assists with the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure high-quality outputs under project timelines. Under supervision, performs work following the agreed-upon budget and schedule. Collects and analyses information from specific discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models. Uses computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering problems. Coordinates with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process. Participates in design progress and coordination meetings. Checks and ensures the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to design instructions. Actively seeks information, opportunities to participate and contribute, and develops efficiencies and effectiveness. Contributes by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments. Proficient in BIM Software (Working experience with Revit will be advantageous). Detailed Electrical Engineering of LV and MV systems including the development and checking of: Load Lists, Single Line Diagrams, Network Diagrams, Electrical Schematic Diagrams, Hazardous Area Classification, Diversification and Load factors, Electrical Network Design, Fault Level Calculations, Protection Schemes modelling of protection schemes and definition of Protection settings, Power Metering specification and interface to Energy / Building Management Systems, Cable Routing Design, Cable Sizing Calculations, Lighting Calculations, modelling and layouts, Earthing Risk Assessments, earthing system design, Earthing layouts, Specification of Electrical Equipment including, Switchgear, Distribution Boards, Motor Control Centres, Transformers, UPSs, Cables, Lighting, etc., and Construction Standards of installation. Specification of Construction Standards of installation.
