Senior Data Analyst - Telescope Operator A key role has opened for a Senior Data Analyst / Telescope Operator to lead a small team of data analysts/operators supporting science operations and development activities during the construction phase. This position is ideal for a qualified professional with experience in scientific operations, data analysis and team leadership. You will be responsible for developing operator procedures, mentoring and training team members, and ensuring quality assurance in operational and scientific processes. The senior officer will lead a team of 4-5 analysts/operators, develop procedures and documentation, mentor and train, observe infrastructure, and analyze initial data for quality assessment and science verification. Observations are expected to be 24/7 with the team working shift patterns. Key Responsibilities Manage performance of the Data Analyst/Telescope Operator team Lead the design and documentation of operational procedures Conduct, monitor, and calibrate observations, ensuring correct use of computing resources Ensure quality assurance of data and timely completion of QA tasks Facilitate communication between technical staff and scientific stakeholders Minimum Requirements – Qualifications MSc, BSc (Hons), or Undergraduate degree in Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, Computing, or related discipline Experience (qualification-dependent) Proven experience in a technical or scientific environment, including data analysis and/or telescope operations 4 years' relevant experience, coupled with an MSc, OR 5 years' relevant experience, coupled with a BSc (Hons), OR 6 years' relevant experience, coupled with an Undergraduate degree Additional Proven Experience and Skills Leading a small team Controlling and operating scientific research instruments, including scheduling Developing operational procedures, monitoring dashboards, and documentation Data analysis and scientific computing (Python, C, C++ in Linux environments) Familiarity with SAFE or Agile code development practices Ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities Strong leadership and independent work capabilities Knowledge Required Principles of radio astronomy and interferometric calibration Radio astronomy reduction software Control and monitoring systems Scientific computing and software development Competencies Required Domain knowledge in scientific observations and data reduction pipelines High-level analytical and problem-solving capability Teamwork and collaboration Verbal and written communication in English Resource management and leadership Judgement and problem solving Equity, diversity, and inclusivity awareness Ability to work day/night shifts on a 24-hour rotational basis Desired Skills Data Analysis Physics Astronomy Team Leadership Telescope Operations Scientific Computing Quality Assurance Radio Astronomy Operational Procedures Desired Qualification Level Degree #J-18808-Ljbffr
