Senior Full-Stack Developer

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic fintech startup revolutionizing payment solutions, based in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Full-Stack Developer proficient in both Node.js and React. You will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and user-friendly web applications. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of the entire software development lifecycle, from database management and API development to UI implementation and deployment. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and associated frameworks (e.g., Express.js).
• Build responsive and interactive user interfaces using React.js and modern frontend development practices.
• Develop and manage RESTful APIs for seamless data communication between frontend and backend systems.
• Implement and optimize database solutions, primarily using PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and testable code across the full stack.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to define feature requirements and user experience.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technology selection.
• Ensure the security, performance, and scalability of the application.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack web development.
• Proven expertise in Node.js development, including experience with frameworks like Express.js.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• In-depth experience with React.js and its ecosystem (e.g., Redux, Hooks).
• Solid understanding of database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
