General Assistant (External Applications Only) Join to apply for the General Assistant (External Applications Only) role at Cashbuild . Job Responsibilities Provide comprehensive customer service in store, including advising and assisting customers on products and queries. Merchandise stock, label shelf prices, and maintain housekeeping within designated areas. Ensure stock is merchandised safely and according to store layout plans and planograms. Keep the area free of obstacles, ensure customers can enter and leave aisles without risk of injury or irritation. Complete the required housekeeping and safety checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules. Report discrepancies, damaged stock, and stock loss to the Store Manager. Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays, and perform basic calculations accurately. Work under pressure while maintaining quality and safety standards. Qualifications Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with one year work‑related experience, or Grade 12 without related experience. Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language of the area. Valid South African ID or work permit. Basic calculation skills. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Ability to work under pressure and follow store procedures. Key Performance Areas Customer Service – Advise and assist customers on correct products and resolve complaints. Merchandising Standards – Merchandise bulk stock safely and keep areas according to layout plans. Housekeeping – Maintain obstacle‑free aisles, correct shelf price labelling, and complete safety checklists. Safety (OHSA) Requirements – Use safety gear, keep stock safe, report discrepancies, and manage stock loss.
