With production units in Europe, North-America and the worldwide SCHOTT sales organization Lighting and Imaging is a leading supplier for fiber optic components. Your Contribution Manages the Manufacturing Engineering Department. Establishes and directs manufacturing engineering projects and programs. Ensures that processes are properly specified and documented. Directs the activities of the manufacturing engineers; provides training and guidance as required. Approves process specifications, material specifications, manufacturing drawings, route sheets, process specifications and bills of materials. Recommends and/or initiates engineering changes revising documentation as necessary. Troubleshoots production and material problems recommending and implementing both short and long-term solutions. Evaluates and recommends vendors. Supports design/specification of tooling, jigs, fixtures, gages, and equipment for manufacturing. Supports the fabrication of those items and their implementation into manufacturing. Evaluates and makes suggestions to improve processes and business systems. Assists in the preparation of quotes by working with sales and customers to identify and document specifications. Determines if product is manufacturable or is within SCHOTT's capability to produce. Prepares and/or approves CERs. Works with TC to develop, recommend and implement major new manufacturing processes, equipment and product designs. Your Profile B.S. in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent in experience, training or course work. Minimum three (3) years’ experience in engineering. Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory role. Effective management skills -- plan, direct, organize and control. Effective interpersonal skills resulting in the ability to create effective working relationships with a diverse group of personalities. Strong analytical ability and a disciplined problem-solving approach, including use of PSD. Ability to motivate and develop subordinates. Good judgment and good decision-making ability. Sufficient technical knowledge to advance company's products to meet changing market needs. Computer proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office software. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Effective communication skills: listening, writing, speaking and oral presentations. Self-motivated and results oriented. Able and willing to work with others on a team. Due to the nature of work performed at this facility, US Person status may be required.
