As a merchandiser you will be responsible for planning and executing strategies to promote and sell products or services in retail stores or other sales environments. Here are some typical duties and responsibilities of a merchandiser:

Product Presentation: Ensure that products are presented in an attractive and appealing manner to maximize sales. This may involve creating visually appealing displays, arranging products on shelves or racks, and implementing signage or promotional materials.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock as needed to ensure products are adequately available for customers. This may involve coordinating with suppliers or warehouse personnel to restock inventory in a timely manner.
Market Research: Conduct market research to understand consumer preferences, trends, and competitor activities. Use this information to make informed decisions about product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies.
Planograms: Develop and implement planograms, which are visual diagrams outlining how products should be arranged within a retail space to optimize sales. This may involve adjusting product placement based on sales data and customer feedback.
Promotions and Pricing: Collaborate with marketing teams to plan and execute promotional campaigns, discounts, and pricing strategies aimed at driving sales and increasing customer engagement.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with retail store managers, staff, and key stakeholders to ensure cooperation and support for merchandising initiatives. This may involve conducting training sessions or providing product knowledge support to store staff.
Sales Analysis: Analyze sales data and performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of merchandising strategies and identify areas for improvement. Use insights gained from data analysis to make adjustments to merchandising plans and optimize sales performance.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, brand guidelines, and regulatory requirements related to product placement, labeling, and promotional activities.
Communication: Communicate regularly with internal teams, such as sales, marketing, and product development, to share insights, coordinate activities, and align merchandising efforts with overall business objectives.
Field Visits: Conduct regular visits to retail stores to assess the implementation of merchandising plans, gather feedback from store personnel, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Overall, the role of a merchandiser is to drive sales and enhance the visibility and appeal of products in retail environments through effective merchandising strategies and tactics.
