An extensive suite of enhanced 3-D design tools and modeling software allow our engineering team to visualize all aspects of plant development.Job DescriptionBusiness Development / Marketing – Provide process engineering input to marketing and proposals by providing technical assistance to support Business Development and Marketing strategiesProduce cost effective, conceptual & timely proposalsDetermine customer's requirementsCommunicate with customer and review customer's enquiry documents and evaluate requirements and constraintsDefine the process / plant scope of workProduce the conceptual design and generate alternativesProduce and agree mass and energy balances and conceptual PFDsContribute to basic design criteria document through preliminary equipment & motor list, preliminary control criteria and major equipment & material specificationProject Life Cycle – Provide Process engineering input to project implementation and Project set upProvide input to generate scope of work, schedules and budgetsRefine scope of work, review contract and design discipline design criteria and engineering deliverablesDefine Battery limits and control and report scope variancesGenerate detail discipline schedules and review overall discipline requirementsContribute to procurement and identify long lead itemsDetermine / prioritize work breakdown structureIssue data to plannerReview / co-ordinate & adhere to schedule of implementationControl and report variancesGenerate and develop detail discipline budgets and identify indirect / resource costsAdhere to budget implementation and control and report budget variancesConsolidate documentation for monthly project progress reportProvide input to monthly discipline reportsProvide feedback to functional managerDesign – Generate the following engineering deliverablesDetailed mass & energy balanceDetailed PFDsDetailed equipment / motor listEquipment specificationsData Sheets (Develop & Approval)Operation & Control PhilosophyDetailed functional specificationsWrite operating manualGenerate detailed plant process guaranteesCheck and review design layouts, including vendor packagesAdhere to schedules and budgetsIssue, review and control final process design documentationCheck and obtain approval of calculations and specificationsConsult with specialists for novel or unusual designsClient Relations (Internal & External) – Prepare approved vendor list and issue enquiry documentsPerform technical and commercial adjudicationObtain client approvalParticipate in pre-award meetings, review quality plan and contractReview quality / expediting reports and witness key manufacturing hold pointsProvide technical backup for expediting teamProactively maintain information flowAttend co-ordination meetingsAdvise changes earlyCo-ordinate deliveriesAdopt flexible approachRespond to needs of other disciplinesEnsure awareness of Company vision and departmental goals / objectivesPlant commissioning – Produce and submit commissioning plan / manualDetermine critical path and establish commissioning sequence / scheduleDefine and secure resourcesDefine battery limits of commissioningDefine commissioning systems / procedureProduce commissioning files, including commissioning documentationEnsure commissioning meets project requirementsIssue remedial inspection reports during constructionMonitor installation and commissioning checklistsArrange and co-ordinate commissioning meetingsConduct on-site commissioningProvide technical back-up for site QA teamAssist in performance testing in terms of design baseSupervise and train operating personnelContribute to close-out report and adhere to close out proceduresProvide post-commissioning process supportEnsure plant optimization and plant operating analysisEnsure regular visits / communications with clientLegislation, Policies & Procedures – Lead design reviews and HazopsEnsure legal compliance with design codes and authoritiesContribute to public participation process as per National Environmental Management Act (NEMA)Enforce process veto rightsMaintain standardsAdhere to and update Company standardsUtilize engineering tools / systemsContinuous Improvement – Consult with specialists for novel or unusual designsReview industry standards making use of network periodicals, attending shows and conferencesIdentify areas of improvementReview all previous close-out reportReview systems and proceduresRecommend best practicesContinuous professional developmentIdentify and address training needsQualificationsQUALIFICATIONSChemical Engineering or Extractive Metallurgy or Minerals Processing Degree from a recognized tertiary institutionSKILLS AND EXPERIENCEA proven experience of 5 to 25 years' experience executing projects in the EPC / EPCM environment; ideally within the mining and minerals (preferred) or petrochemical sector.Construction & Commissioning - Understanding of on-site construction work such as commissioning or customers and suppliers' interactionsRisk Analysis - Ability to identify project and activities risk from any point of view including knowledge of hazard and operation HAZOPValue Engineering - Ability to optimize a process by adding value either as saving in cost or simplifying the processProcess Flow Diagrams - Ability to produce, understand and deliver Process Flow diagramsTesting - Knowledge of testing techniques and procedures including specifications and interpretations of test worksEquipment & Components - Knowledge of process, control, quality, electrical etc. equipment specifications, suppliers and features (including equipment installation and components)Legislation & Standards - Knowledge of sector specific law (e.g. Engineering, safety reqs, Audit regulations, Insurance laws etc.) and knowledge standard specifications (e.g. Plant layout requirements, etc.) including the ability to integrate these standards.Technical Documentation - Ability to create, understand and communicate technical specificationsEconomical Awareness - Knowledge of economic fundamentals and ability to make estimations and proposing alternativesProcess Simulation - Ability to simulate processes by means of software or other methodologiesMass balance - Ability to calculate (using software and spreadsheets) the mass balance of a processProcess Design Criteria - Knowledge of parameters required to design the processPiping & Instrumentation - Diagram Ability to produce, understand and deliver piping and instrumentation diagramsJob Location #J- Ljbffr #J-18808-Ljbffr
