Technical Sales - Applications Specialist ANDRITZ West Coast, Western Cape, South Africa The applications specialist serves as technical support to the N.A. Sales Network, playing a key role in mill site troubleshooting, problem identification, and the development of technical solutions. They assist inside sales with quote preparation and justify and present large or strategically important sales presentations. Responsibilities Mill Site Optimization and Troubleshooting – respond to mill problems, perform wet end audits, audit equipment, document and evaluate existing equipment, provide optimization services (paid or complimentary), highlight need for upgrades, generate technical marketing case studies, produce detailed sketches, layouts, and mechanical details. Quotation Preparation and Field Applications – review technical quotation requests from sales associates, paper mills, engineering firms, and paper machine builders; determine required drainage or ancillary equipment; generate outlines for pricing, produce vacuum requirements, drainage projections, layout drawings, horsepower consumption projections, descriptive cover letters; startup Andritz equipment, supervise start‑up, train customers, formulate and execute trial plans, create reports. Technical Sales Support – provide ROI technical arguments to support proposals, generate technical marketing materials, support product line marketing efforts. Qualifications Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent paper industry experience. Ability to research supportive data for technical marketing approaches. Ability to generate and present technical arguments and rationale in presentation format. Experience in wet end operations and process knowledge. Familiarity with paper physical property test methods. Mechanical aptitude. Able to develop close business relationships from the machine floor to management. Initiative‑taker – recognize and generate projects through customer and market interaction.
