Job Title Technical Team Lead Experience & Hiring Details Years of Experience: 5 years overall with 2‑3 years Apigee experience Type of Hiring: Fixed Term Employment Location: Johannesburg, South Africa Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Team Lead with a strong background in Apigee to join our dynamic team at Vodacom in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading technical teams, driving project success, and delivering high quality solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of API management and a passion for technology innovation. Project Role Assist in the configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of Apigee software. Review design documents and provide feedback on approach and estimates. Development and support of Apigee API Gateway. Development and maintenance of microservices. Development of API proxies. Work experience: 5 years and 2‑3 years Apigee Development. Roles and Responsibilities Hands‑on development in Apigee Platform with deep implementation exposure to policies such as Service Callouts, Extensions, Mediation, and Security implementations using OAuth. Writing Open API spec and knowledge of SmartDocs/Swagger‑UI and onboarding APIs to developer portal. Knowledge of NodeJ​S. Experience with web services: API’s built on SOAP or REST, using XML or JSON. Experience configuring CI/CD pipeline and AppDynamics; Bitbucket versioning knowledge; CI/CD tools support (Jenkins, Maven, Bitbucket, Nexus). Securing data channels using OAuth 2.0 is preferred. Experience supporting middleware technologies. Handling API deployment, scalability, security and monitoring. Complete API lifecycle management (release & deployment, management, creation of APIs). Creating, publishing and managing API proxies and policies. Managing KVM, flow hooks, virtual hosts across environments. Publishing micro‑services to gateway. Deployment experience in Apigee SaaS / Hybrid / Microgateway. Updating properties & publishing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Monitoring/configuring Apigee Analytics (out of box/custom reports). Publishing API product to Apigee developer portal. Knowledge of logging systems such as Splunk, Sumologic, ELK stack, Loggly. Hands‑on integration and deployment experience in multi‑tier, mobile/web‑based systems. Knowledge of Redhat OpenShift container architecture and design. Understanding of network topology and architecture. Database administration knowledge on Cassandra, PostgreSQL, MySQL (data modeling, schema maintenance, indexing, backups). Proficiency in web technologies (PHP, jQuery, AJAX, CSS, HTML) and Drupal 9. APIGEE‑certified professional API engineer (preferred). Professional Attributes Client‑facing experience. Analytical skills. Ability to work under pressure. Educational Qualification Completed engineering graduation from a reputed college/university.
