Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Representative who can also step into the role of Plant Operator as needed at a refinery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and implementing safety standards to ensure a safe working environment. Additionally, the candidate will function as a plant operator and perform necessary tasks to maintain refinery operations when required.

Key Responsibilities:
Health and Safety Duties:
  • Monitor compliance with refinery safety standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety devices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Plant Operator Duties:
  • Water sampling and basic analysing
  • Site chemical inventory control
  • Basic maintenance and calibration of water treatment equipment
  • On-site troubleshooting and technical problem solving.
  • Present weekly and monthly reports to Key account manager
  • Monitor equipment, pipe line, dosing equipment and Flocculent Plant operations.
  • Ensure safe attitude.
  • Need to ensure that we are safety compliant and that housekeeping is addressed on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that he set an example and live the bigger values.
  • Reporting to customers on site and company management.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in health and safety roles, preferably in a refinery or industrial setting.
  • Experience as a plant operator or similar role is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and safety management systems.
Education:
  • Tertiary Education in Health and Safety
