MGI Bass Gordon has an exciting vacancy for an Accountant who has completed their SAICA articles or has 5–10 years' bookkeeping experience in the professional services industry. What You'll Do : Compilations and Independent Reviews in terms of IFRS for SMEs and Accounting Officers' engagements and Trust Compilation EngagementsPrepare budgets for approval by manager or partner before beginning workImport and map client financial information into CasewareProcess relevant year-end journal entries to finalise Trial Balance for drafting of Annual Financial Statements (AFS)Prepare Tax and deferred tax computations and capture appropriate journals and AFS disclosures in this regardDraft quality annual financial statements in terms of the applicable accounting framework (most commonly IFRS for SME's)Prepare quality working paper files, which meets the standards of the FirmPrepare all documents that are required to be signed by client, ensuring that these are in brown cover when handing the file in for reviewPrepare all quality control documents that are required to be signed off by the partner(s)Prepare analysis of time spent to budget with detailed explanations of any deviations prior to handing in fileTechnical Performance and Financial PerformanceHave excellent knowledge of accounting and IFRS for SMEsEnsure that allocated engagements are completed within the approved budget depending on the issues encounteredEnsure that all budget overruns are communicated timeously to the partner or managerCommunicate the planning to colleagues of the engagement allocatedPerform quality compilations, independent review, and accounting officers' engagementPerform a detailed review of the working papers, which meets the standards of the firm, where requiredEnsure that the technical issues are identified before the file being reviewedProduce high quality documents that are factual and grammatically correctEffective use of technology to ensure the performance of an efficient assignmentProduce high-quality financial statements that are appropriate to the business concerned What We're Looking For : A relevant Accounting Degree.SAICA articles completed or 5–10 years' bookkeeping experience.Proficiency in CaseWare, MS Excel, and tax computations.Strong technical knowledge of IFRS for SMEs.Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.A passion for client service and a drive to deliver excellence.Xero experience is a plus.
