Facilitator for National Certificate: Mixed Farming Systems Qualification

We are currently implementing an AgriSETA project focusing on the following qualification: Qualification 48977: Mixed Farming Systems NQF2 We are seeking qualified and experienced Facilitators/Assessors to join our dynamic team for this initiative. Municipalities: Ditsobotla Mahikeng Ratlou Madibeng Job Purpose: The Facilitator for Qualification 48977 Mixed Farming Systems (NQF 2) will be responsible for delivering quality training in mixed farming systems, which includes integrated crop and livestock management. The facilitator will guide learners through the curriculum, ensuring they gain practical skills and theoretical knowledge essential for effectively managing both crop and livestock production in a sustainable and profitable manner. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate Learning: Deliver training sessions on mixed farming systems, focusing on the integration of crop and livestock production. Ensure training is aligned with the Qualification 48977 standards, ensuring students meet NQF 2 learning requirements. Foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment that motivates students to learn and succeed. Course Delivery: Prepare lesson plans, training materials, and assessments that align with the curriculum. Use a variety of teaching methods (e.g., lectures, fieldwork, hands-on demonstrations) to ensure active participation and understanding of key topics in mixed farming. Modify instructional approaches to accommodate various learning styles and needs. Practical and Theoretical Application: Supervise and support students in both classroom and field-based learning, ensuring practical skills are developed alongside theoretical understanding. Provide learners with real-world examples and case studies to illustrate the application of mixed farming principles. Assessment and Evaluation: Assess learners' progress through continuous assessment (practical, written, or project-based tasks). Provide timely and constructive feedback to help learners improve their performance. Conduct both formative and summative assessments, ensuring learners achieve the required competencies. Learner Support: Offer additional support to learners who need extra help, including one-on-one sessions or group study support. Monitor learners' attendance, participation, and progress and address any challenges that may arise. Farm Safety and Practices: Ensure that health and safety guidelines are adhered to during practical sessions, especially during field visits and hands-on training activities. Promote safe practices in the handling of tools, livestock, crops, and chemicals on the farm. Course Administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of learner attendance, assessments, and progress. Ensure that all administrative tasks related to course delivery are completed in a timely manner, including managing documentation and reporting. Professional Development: Stay informed of industry trends, new farming techniques, and best practices in mixed farming systems. Participate in training sessions, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and facilitation skills. Contribution to Curriculum Improvement: Provide feedback on the curriculum based on practical experiences and learner outcomes. Suggest improvements to course content and delivery methods based on learner needs and evolving agricultural trends. Qualifications & Experience: A minimum of a National Certificate or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science, Plant Production , or a related field (NQF Level 2 or higher). At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience in mixed farming systems (both crop and livestock production). Previous experience in facilitating training or teaching in an agricultural context is preferred. Knowledge of NQF-level qualifications and agricultural education is an advantage. Skills & Competencies: In-depth knowledge of mixed farming systems , including crop management, livestock management, and integrated farming practices. Ability to design and implement engaging lesson plans and learning materials for mixed farming systems. Strong communication skills to effectively deliver lessons and engage with learners from diverse backgrounds. Sound assessment skills, including the ability to evaluate both practical and theoretical knowledge. Organizational skills to manage class schedules, learner records, and assessments effectively. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other administrative software for course-related tasks. Personal Attributes: Patient and adaptable, with the ability to engage and inspire learners with diverse needs. Passionate about agriculture and education, with a strong commitment to learner success. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on practical situations. Proactive and self-motivated, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Ethical, with a focus on maintaining professionalism and safety standards at all times.
