Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join their technology team in Sandton. This hybrid opportunity is ideal for a senior software engineering professional who enjoys balancing hands‑on development with technical leadership, mentoring developers and delivering scalable enterprise solutions. Approximately 60–70% of the role focuses on leadership, with the remaining 30–40% dedicated to hands‑on development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership to a team of software developers.
- Design and develop secure, scalable, high‑performance enterprise applications.
- Lead solution architecture, technical design and code review activities.
- Mentor developers and promote engineering best practices.
- Drive software quality, governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee CI/CD processes and software release management.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects and cross‑functional teams.
- Contribute to system architecture, technical standards and innovation.
- Support the delivery of enterprise applications across long‑term or fast‑paced project environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 10+ years' experience in software development.
- Expert Java and Spring Boot development experience.
- Strong knowledge of REST, SOAP and GraphQL APIs.
- Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong SQL and NoSQL database experience.
- Experience with Kafka and messaging technologies.
- Cloud experience with Azure and AWS.
- Kubernetes, Docker and Infrastructure as Code (YAML) experience.
- Strong understanding of Domain‑Driven Design and microservices architecture.
- Experience leading development teams within Agile environments.
- ReactJS, React Native or TypeScript experience is advantageous.
