An opportunity has become available for a Sample Room Supervisor to join the Prestige Clothing team in the Prestige Cutting Room, located in Durban. Responsibilities: Create garment samples Responsible for garment construction Responsible for final presentation of garment critical and perfect execution of sample garment critical Meeting with Pattern technologists to discuss patterns and construction Manage small team Pattern Reading Communication to Design Centre Administration Cutting, sewing, and prepping fabric according to the requirements of each article Place order when requested on raw materials (e.g. threads, buttons, elastics, basis trims) Assist with multi-skilling the production operators (new product) Denim capability upskilling Quality control for specific lines/garments/orders Ad hoc projects Reporting Investigating and implementing best practice related to Quality and Denim Requirements: Grade 10 or equivalent Able to operate a variety of sewing machines Min 2-3 yrs. experience in a clothing manufacturing environment Min 2-3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity Ability to work on a wide range of sewing machines to complete different tasks Must be able to sew all types of tops and bottoms, woven and knitted fabric Competencies and Behaviours for Success: Able to work independently Ability to handle pressure Report writing skills Please ensure that your Line Manager is aware and supports your application.
