In this position you will… …be the Senior Legal Counsel, Africa by taking a leading role in managing a broad spectrum of commercial agreements and regulatory compliance issues for Africa focusing primarily on South Africa and Kenya, while also contributing to the review and preparation of commercial agreements in the context of wider EMEA partnerships. You will be responsible for… Identifying and interpreting applicable laws, regulations and other relevant requirements, particularly those affecting the business in Africa. Identification and mitigation of legal risks. Leading the drafting, review and negotiation of a wide range of commercial contracts, including insurance distribution agreements, service agreements and partnership agreements. Delivering legal services aligned with business strategy in an agile and business-focused manner. Promoting and embedding a strong compliance culture across the organisation. Acting as subject matter expert on African regulatory requirements by identifying, monitoring and assessing compliance risk and ensuring they are effectively managed. Supporting the Director, Legal and Compliance EMEA, in oversight, challenge, advice, escalation and reporting activities, while liaising with other senior team members and business stakeholders. Work closely with Regional and Group Legal and Compliance to report on, escalate and mitigate risks and issues. Prior experience in the insurance sector in Africa. Ability to work in a multicultural team and foster strong relationships.
