The incumbent’s responsibilities will include, amongst others, the following: Ensure compliance with MHSA, safety standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Ensure strict adherence to the relevant engineering standards and specifications. Ensure safe installation, proper operation, running, and maintenance of machinery. Ensure proper maintenance of buildings, structures, and tanks. Oversee the management, availability, and reliability of assets and services to meet the required care and maintenance schedules and targets within the span of control. Provide technical support to the maintenance and other departmental teams. Support coordination between various business functions to ensure consistency in business functions. Ensure effective budgetary management and cost control. Ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective completion of care and maintenance and/or rehabilitation projects. Ensure training and development of the engineering team. Ensure legal compliance for both underground and surface areas. Implement and maintain maintenance and project schedules. Strict adherence to project schedules and timelines The following qualifications and experience are required for this position: Degree/Diploma in Engineering Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) – 8 years of mine and works electrical and mechanical experience with a 2.13.1 legal appointment GCC in both Electrical and Mechanical preferred 8 years’ hands-on experience as a Shaft Engineer Experience in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation Experience in Trackless mobile machinery in mining Extensive knowledge of the MHSA, safety standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Professional affiliation (e.g. ECSA, AMRE, SACEA, SAIEE) The following qualifications and experience would be advantageous: Relevant postgraduate degree Managerial/business qualification i.e. MDP/LDP Project management qualification #J-18808-Ljbffr
