About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Agricultural Engineer with expertise in irrigation systems to join their team in Pretoria. This role is critical in designing, implementing, and optimizing water management solutions for large-scale agricultural operations. You will leverage your engineering knowledge to ensure efficient water use, improve crop yields, and promote water sustainability in varying climatic conditions. Working closely with farm managers and agronomists, you will play a key role in addressing water scarcity challenges and enhancing agricultural resilience through innovative irrigation technologies, contributing to more efficient and environmentally sound farming practices.



Key Responsibilities
Design, plan, and oversee the installation of efficient irrigation systems (e.g., drip, sprinkler, center pivot). Conduct site assessments and analyze water resources to develop tailored irrigation strategies. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and recommend upgrades or modifications for optimal efficiency. Develop and manage water management plans in compliance with environmental regulations. Provide technical training and support to farm personnel on irrigation system operation and maintenance. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agricultural Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and managing agricultural irrigation systems. In-depth knowledge of hydraulic principles, water flow dynamics, and irrigation scheduling software. Familiarity with South African water resource management policies and best practices.
