Role Purpose Accurately control and process financial information and prepare financial reports and analysis to enable business processes in respect of investment accounting. Requirements Qualifications: BCom Degree Experience: 8 Years in a Reinsurance Accountant role Duties & Responsibilities Balance sheet reconciliation implementation and management of all non‑life client’s reinsurance. Accounting for month‑end transactions for proportional reinsurance (cash calls and ad‑hoc). Engaging with the general finance team on movements in the reinsurance financials. Engaging with the portfolio managers on movements in the reinsurance financials. Reporting internal and external on financial accounting for reinsurance. Performing the reinsurance accounting function for Guardrisk non‑life cell captive, including oversight and management of the non‑proportional accounting. Preparation, reconciliation, and communication of proportional and non‑proportional reinsurance accounts to the reinsurance market, clients and internally. Comprehensive reinsurance claims management for both proportional and non‑proportional reinsurance. Monitor renewals and premium adjustments for allocated portfolios. Credit control on reinsurance client portfolios. Engaging with senior management on the non‑proportional portfolio across the non‑life license portfolio. Portfolio support and servicing by working closely with the portfolio manager and other stakeholders. Identify and resolve problem sources or escalating to relevant level of authority. Resolution of market enquiries on reinsurance matters. Preparation and submission of renewal information on client portfolio. Client reporting and engagement on reinsurance matters monthly for selected client portfolio. Participate and contribute to a culture which builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback, and provides exceptional client service within the organisation. Management of the sub‑ledger and reporting process of selected client portfolio. Assistance with inputs of the Manco reports. Oversee assistant accountant in the non‑proportional reinsurance space. Assist with review of proportional quarterly reinsurance accounts. Assist with clearing of long‑outstanding balance‑sheet items. Stakeholder Interactions Attend and report at reinsurer meetings, as required. Attend and report at reinsurance broker meetings, as required. Other Client reporting and engagement on reinsurance matters monthly for selected client portfolio. Banking signatory for finance department. Competencies Planning and organising skills.
