Job Summary Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking vigilant, disciplined, and professional Security Officers to join an elite team aboard luxury international cruise ships. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have prior experience in maritime, military, law enforcement, or hospitality security and are passionate about ensuring the safety and well‑being of guests, crew, and ship operations. You will travel the world while maintaining top‑tier security standards in a dynamic, multicultural environment. Key Responsibilities Monitor and maintain the safety of passengers, crew, and onboard assets Conduct regular patrols and inspections across ship decks, restricted areas, and guest corridors Enforce shipboard security protocols, access control, and emergency procedures Handle crowd control during embarkation, disembarkation, and onboard events Investigate and report security incidents, thefts, and disturbances professionally and confidentially Operate and monitor surveillance systems (CCTV), metal detectors, and screening equipment Assist with the safe evacuation of guests and crew during emergency drills or real events Collaborate with ship officers and port authorities in various international waters Provide support for customs and immigration procedures when required Deliver security briefings to crew and supervise compliance with ISPS Code regulations Required Skills and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelors degree preferred) Valid passport and ability to travel internationally for extended periods Maritime Security or SSO (Ship Security Officer) certification is highly desirable Strong communication, observation, and crisis management skills Proficient in using security technology and surveillance systems Fluency in English is mandatory; additional languages are an advantage Physically fit and able to work in a fast‑paced, rotating shift environment Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in security roles, preferably in the cruise, maritime, aviation, military, or law enforcement sectors Prior shipboard experience or STCW certification is a plus Experience working in multicultural, guest‑facing environments is valued Working Hours Rotational shift pattern: 6 months on / 2 months off or as per cruise schedule 10–12 hours per day, 7 days a week while onboard Must be available for emergency duties at any time Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of international maritime safety and security laws (e.g., ISPS Code) Ability to act quickly and decisively under pressure High levels of integrity, reliability, and discretion Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams across departments Benefits Competitive tax‑free salary in USD Free accommodation, meals, and uniform onboard International travel and exposure to multiple countries Medical insurance and onboard medical support Career advancement opportunities with global cruise brands Paid vacation leave after each contract Travel arrangements covered by the company Why Join Joining Houston Skilled Consultancy's cruise ship placements means embarking on a career that is far from ordinary.
