Business Segment: Insurance & Asset Management Location: ZA, GP, Roodepoort, 4 Ellis Street Responsible for the underwriting of the WealthInsure portfolio with the explicit goal to achieve sustained profitable growth. Management includes determining and changing underwriting rules, pricing and cover provided in conjunction with. The individual will design intelligent rules for referral underwriting decisions and be knowledgeable and experienced to provide creative and innovative solutions for business partners. He / she will also be involved with identifying underwriting trends and report problem areas to senior management and the actuarial teams. The incumbent will support WealthInsure Portfolio Management with Development of underwriting rules and referrals Implementation of corrective underwriting actions Strategic input on new and renewal premiums changes Technical underwriting adviceReview reinsurance structure in conjunction with actuarial and SIL QualificationsMinimum qualification – Grade 12/Matric CertificateFull Qualification as recognized by the RegistrarRelevant business related tertiary qualification e.g. BA degree/qualification is an advantageUndergraduate degree, or similar (majors in Risk, Finance, Insurance an advantage) and/orPostgraduate or professional qualification in risk and relevant experience an advantageMust have passed FAIS exams min 60 credits – qualification and experience as determined by “Fit and Proper Requirements” of the FAIS legislation. Experience Required; Experience in managing a personal lines portfolioMinimum 5 years underwriting experience in Short term insuranceGood knowledge to analyse other underwriters offering, policy terms and conditions and to compare cover to the SIL offering and individual product offering and information.Identify gaps in existing policy terms and conditions and be able to close these gaps with the correct products and coverAdditional Information Deciding and initiating action Leading and supervising Promoting the development of others Working with people Adhering to principles and values Persuading and influencing Applying expertise and technology Planning and organising Delivering results and meeting customer expectations Relating and networking In depth knowledge of personal lines Basic knowledge of ratemaking Knowledge of Industry Policy Wording across all classes.
