Massmart Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa Job Overview The main purpose of this role is to investigate identified and implied SAP data inconsistencies, manage data efficiency through input, quality assurance, cleansing, and timely control of data entry, resolution or queries. Key Responsibilities Finance Manage controllable expenses within the department and within the allocated budgets (i.e., Labour Costs). Assist the RDC team through efficient and effective management of the Master Data deliverables to achieve and exceed financial targets and ratios (e.g., throughput of R2.2 bn, shrinkage at 0.20% of throughput). Operational Excellence Manage DC data capture, audit DC product and pack spec data processes effectively. Support and manage data checks for first goods receipt of a new product into the DC. Support and manage stakeholder relationships and their impact on DC data fields. Adhere to processes, take suitable action for deviations, and incorporate feedback into future process definitions for continuous improvement. Monitor and manage the Data Management process. Monitor data quality of master data pertinent to the RDC using business rules and experience; write queries to extract data. Facilitate resolution of conflicts related to master data within the RDC with other data facilitators. Contribute to thought leadership for better data governance and master data management. Enforce policies that guide the data vision for the organization. Communicate and promote the value of information. Monitor and enforce data policies and practices. Develop understanding of the SAP Master Data Model from a business process perspective. Participate in data auditing, profiling and source mapping sessions as required. Understand SAP EWM Master Data Model and SAP tables holding the data. Extract data, analyze, fault‑find and propose corrective actions. Engage with suppliers to create optimal pack sizes for the RDC. Understand SAP BI & databases. Coordinate business data where required. Drive timely closure of issues. Implement and Manage Key Relationships Interact and liaison with stakeholders to implement master data changes and improvements supporting inventory flow processes and strategies of the RDC. Manage service levels between the RDC and central article master departments concerning data purification and new article onboarding. Manage take‑on process with vendors and articles to ensure a smooth and streamlined take‑on process with limited data problems (e.g., pack specs, barcodes, packaging configuration). Ensure supplier onboarding processes manage articles accurately (all 22 624 articles barcoded before take‑on, pack sizes, dimensions obtained and fed to Article Master before stock arrives). Maintain master data day‑to‑day to avoid picking errors due to incorrect pack data. Maintain ongoing source of supply. Conduct ad‑hoc ATOF maintenance for first‑time articles. Coordinate with Article Master team on new and problematic articles in SAP ERP6 and SAP EWM. Ensure conformance to OHS procedures; report safety accurately and timely per company procedures and standards. Conduct safety audits in conjunction with OH&S based on housekeeping audits. Implement policies and procedures related to day‑to‑day operational activities and their maintenance within the operating team. Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience required for this position Matric/Grade 12. A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain and Logistics (NQF 7). Competencies and Skills Experience SAP EWM and ERP experience essential. Proven and solid Systems and Process experience essential. 3–5 years experience in a distribution and warehousing environment essential. 3–5 years managerial experience at a middle to senior level essential.
