Carpenter/Joiner

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter & Joiner to join the hotelâs engineering and maintenance team. The successful candidate will construct, repair, and maintain furniture, fixtures, and wooden structures throughout the hotel, ensuring all joinery work meets the highest standards of quality, precision, and safety. Critical Criteria (Requirements) Trade qualification in Carpentry or Joinery preferred Proven experience in furniture making, repair, and general woodwork Knowledge of tools, machinery, and joinery techniques Minimum 2â4 yearsâ experience as a Carpenter & Joiner, preferably in hotels, commercial, or industrial settings Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship Ability to work independently and efficiently under deadlines Good organisational and time-management skills Team player with effective communication skills Must hold a valid South African ID Key Competencies ð¹ Technical Expertise â Skilled in constructing, repairing, and maintaining furniture, fixtures, and custom wooden structures ð¹ Quality & Standards Focus â Ensures all joinery work meets high standards of precision, durability, and finish ð¹ Health & Safety Compliance â Adheres to occupational health and safety regulations and safe use of tools and machinery ð¹ Problem Solving & Efficiency â Responds promptly to repair requests and executes tasks effectively ð¹ Team Collaboration â Works closely with the engineering and maintenance team to support hotel operations Duties & Responsibilities Build and repair furniture, doors, panels, and custom wooden structures Carry out cutting, shaping, assembling, and finishing of wood components Install and fit doors, cabinetry, shelving, and other wooden fixtures Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on wooden fixtures and furniture Inspect completed work to ensure quality, consistency, and durability Maintain a clean and organised workshop and work areas Follow all health, safety, and PPE requirements Assist with other maintenance or construction tasks as required Live and promote the hotelâs values of Teamwork, Respect, Innovation, Accountability, Passion, and Integrity Package on Offer Basic salary (TBA) 50/50 contribution to Pension Company contribution to medical aid Important Application Notes Must hold a valid South African ID Only candidates with relevant Carpentry & Joinery experience will be shortlisted Ensure your CV is 100% updated All applicants will attend a virtual introduction interview Recruitment aligns with the companyâs Employment Equity Plan About the President Hotel The President Hotel is on a journey to be considered a true luxury destination.
