Description JOB OPPORTUNITY ENERGY? ELECTRICITY GENERATION AND DISTRIBUTION OPERATOR MECHANICAL PLANT GRADE 3 (RIGGER) BASIC SALARY: R TO R PER ANNUM? REF NO: NRG Requirements Basic literacy Minimum three years' relevant experience Code EC driver's licence with PrDPCertificate of competency for Truck Mounted Cranes up to 20-ton meter or Certificate of competency for Truck Mounted Aerial Platform non-insulated up to 20 metres Earth Moving Equipment Certification All relevant certificates must be current and valid at the time of application. Special Conditions Required to work in all weather conditions Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime Required to be on stand‑by duty as and when required. Responsibilities Perform specific tasks / activities at Fleet Business Operations prior to and on completion of allocated assignments. Receive task instructions from supervisor or Depot Clerk regarding vehicles, materials, and personnel. Monitor loading / unloading of materials and equipment, ensuring safety procedures are followed. Transport personnel, materials, and equipment to designated locations. Inspect vehicle safety features and report defects to supervisor. Inspect and verify lifting and rigging equipment for compliance with specifications. Ensure compliance with instructions, departmental procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations to support continuous operations and meet productivity standards. Complete internal documentation such as tally sheets, log sheets, progress reports, and vehicle checklists. Operate heavy mechanical plant and vehicles (e.g. TLB, hydraulic cranes, tip trucks) during electricity infrastructure maintenance and operating. Coordinate with site Supervisor, manage material usage, and operate heavy plant machinery to perform tasks such as digging, grading, and levelling during repair and maintenance work.
