PUR OF THE JOB To supervise and assist the team in the safe execution of all Mechanical activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS OR Proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) AND NTC 2 (Relevant Trade Theory) Qualification is essential. Minimum of 3-5 years working experience as a Winder Artisan is essential. Completion of Winder modules is essential. Computer literacy (MS Office package & SAP) is essential. Valid Medical Certificate or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate. COMPETENCIES Legal knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act and Regulations is essential. Good experience and working knowledge of maintenance and operation of: surface main fans multi-stage pumps dirty water settlers change houses & hot water calorifiers A relevant trade and in-depth knowledge of friction winder will be an advantage KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Supervise mechanical maintenance activities. Direct Artisans according to emergency priorities as per their job requirements. Attend to callouts with regards to mechanical breakdowns. Maintain control of Engineering workshop and stores. Control and order stock for all parts, equipment and materials required. Design basic mechanical components, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits. Diagnose and repair faults on equipment and machinery in operation. Analyse breakdowns to identify the root cause. Commission and assemble machinery and equipment. Supervise non-destructive tests on safety and production critical equipment. Compile technical reports, method statements and risk assessments. Supervise the work unit to achieve work unit objectives (individuals and teams). Plan, organise and control work in own area of responsibility.
