Job Overview The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) invites applications for a permanent Lecturer position in Information Science / Studies within the School of Social Sciences, located in Pietermaritzburg. The role supports a vibrant postgraduate research programme and a strong undergraduate cohort within a top-ranked South African university. Responsibilities Deliver high-quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Supervise postgraduate students, including Masters and PhD level. Develop and publish research across quality scientific journals. Apply for and manage research grants as Principal Investigator or team member. Contribute to the academic development of Information Studies and the School of Social Sciences through active engagement in curriculum, policy and community outreach. Qualifications PhD in Information Science / Studies or a closely related discipline. Evidence of a sustained record of research publication in peer‑reviewed journals. Track record of postgraduate supervision at Masters and/or PhD level. Successful experience of applying for research grants. Three years of relevant experience in teaching, lecturing, research or industry. Preferred Multidisciplinary research record that bridges Information Studies with other social science fields.
