Position Details Title: SHEQ OfficerReports to: SHEQ ManagerDepartment: SHEQLocation: Peakers Operations Support Office – UmhlangaClosing date: 04 September 2025 Key Responsibilities Coordinate the implementation of the safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) programme for Peakers Operations. Adhere to all SHEQ Guidelines and Procedures and maintain an injury‑free environment. Interpret and apply OHS Act, NEMA, and related legislation. Maintain high housekeeping standards and review safety and hygiene procedures. Investigate and report root causes of accidents, identify corrective actions, and instigate control measures. Deliver departmental safety visitors, contractor inductions, and maintain records; implement contractor management protocols. Distribute HSE bulletins, update communication boards, and implement safety awareness campaigns. Assist with safety meetings, toolbox talks, worker representative teams, and departmental committees. Review and manage environmental performance in line with ISO and environmental impact assessments. Manage licence and regulatory requirements for Peakers Operations. Support the SHEQ Manager and the EXCO team in delivering HSE outcomes. Health & Safety Work in a controlled hazardous environment at Work Level 4, risk medium with temporary consequences. Exposure to traffic/automotive accidents and ergonomic problems. Use appropriate PPE: hard hat, ear protection, safety glasses, shoes, cotton workwear, gloves. Recommended ergonomic equipment for office work. Qualifications & Experience Relevant SHEQ / Safety Management or Environmental Management qualification. Minimum 5 years experience as a Safety Officer in a large power plant. Proficiency in safe work systems, computerized maintenance management systems, engineering concepts, and interaction with purchasing, finance, and HR. Knowledge of industrial process, occupational hygiene and safety, ISO 45001, and environmental reporting. Additional Information Incomplete CVs or applications will not be considered.
