At least two (2) years as a packer in the food manufacturing industry.
Formal qualifications
- Matric
- Ensure that the metal detector is working/functioning properly when packing batches at all times
- Fill in and sign the metal detector sheet daily/on each shift
- Ensure that packing filter/bazooka is sterilized/steamed for >104 degrees Celsius for 5 minutes before packing each batch of product at sterilization all times. Fill in times and temperature on packing time sheet to ensure packing is done
- Follow correct packing procedures as well as the exact cooling procedures and packing pump speeds
- Documentation to be completed in full and correctly. Fill in correct times and names on packing, tank sterilization and tank labels
- Follow all Company policies and safety procedures. Ensure good working relationships with colleagues and supervisors
- Follow shift change over policies by communicating any problems to the new shift
- Ensure that there are no foreign objects in product. Ensure that all fruit products packed with filters are emptied into a bucket for sorting by QC e.g. sludge
- Ensure that 1kg/500grams sample bucket is taken every batch that is produced for the day. Resamples to be taken when requested
- Correct batch no., tank no., production code and D.O.M. to be filled on label of sample bucket
- Ensure correct batch, batch code and weight is correctly packed and stored in the cold room immediately
- Follow cleaning procedures to ensure a clean uncontaminated product at all times. Use correct colour coded cleaning materials and correct detergents
- Ensure high personnel hygiene level
- Communicate with supervisors on an ongoing basis
- Ensure proper micro samples are taken per line and for the specific day
- Correct labelling of products
- Inform maintenance department of any technical and mechanical problems
- Ensure tanks are packed with the correct weights and that they are labelled correctly and clearly
- Ensure that there are enough raw/packing materials for the days batches
- Ensure that the Food Safety Policy is followed at all times
- All utensils, equipment and machinery are to be clean and sanitized
- Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks
- To comply with the applicable compliance guidelines
- And any other tasks necessary for the conduct of the business as the employer may from time to time direct
- Commit to act according to the key management principles and the safety-first culture as defined in the Safety-first policy
