Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in preparing and analysing financial records, supporting audit engagements, and advising clients on financial best practices. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting and auditing, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to upholding industry standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with clients and support their financial accuracy and compliance needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Assist in audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting in line with SAIPA standards and regulations.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure all accounts are accurately maintained.
  • Work with clients to gather information, understand their business needs, and provide financial guidance.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes for client accounts.
  • Conduct variance analysis, identify discrepancies, and recommend adjustments or improvements.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff, fostering growth and knowledge-sharing within the team.
  • Stay up to date with changes in accounting and auditing standards to maintain best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelors Degree in accounting (BCom) required.
  • Completion of SAIPA articles as a minimum.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., CaseWare, Pastel, or similar) and Microsoft Excel .
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and GAAP principles.
  • Proficient in VAT and income tax submissions.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
