We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineer (FULL TIME) to support our client on a contract basis. Contract: Full Time – Contractor. Contract Length: 12 months (Renewable) Location: Hybrid (Offices in Johannesburg & Cape Town – once/twice a month). Must be located or have a working permit in South Africa. If you cannot work in South Africa, please do not apply. The role focuses on deploying and hardening AWS EKS stacks, implementing zero‑trust security, and ensuring robust observability, reliability, and automation across multi‑tenant workloads. You’ll work hands‑on with modern cloud infrastructure, enabling secure, scalable, and high‑performing environments. Key Responsibilities Provision, configure and manage AWS EKS clusters using Terraform. Deploy and manage Istio service mesh with mTLS for secure inter‑service communication. Implement and maintain Kafka clusters and StatefulSets within Kubernetes. Set up and monitor Prometheus and Grafana dashboards with performance‑driven SLOs. Enforce zero‑trust and workload‑level security using mTLS, AppArmor, and other hardening techniques. Optimise infrastructure for scalability, reliability, and security in a multi‑tenant environment. Integrate and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for automated delivery. What Will Make Us Happy 5+ Years as a DevOps Engineer / Similar role (Platform / SRE). Proven experience deploying and operating Kubernetes (EKS) in AWS production environments. Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools – Terraform (required), Ansible (preferred). Hands‑on expertise with Istio, mTLS, and service mesh security best practices. Solid understanding of Kafka and distributed systems. Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry for observability. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions (or similar). Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a self‑driven, remote‑ready mindset. Nice to Have Experience with AWS networking, IAM, and security policies. Exposure to multi‑region or hybrid cloud architectures. Familiarity with policy‑as‑code and compliance automation (e.g., OPA, Kyverno). Certifications in AWS or Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD). #J-18808-Ljbffr
