The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing the company's accounting functions. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with extensive experience in accounting, financial management, and compliance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of accounting duties, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting and operations.

This role is based in Cape Town CBD City Bowl.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Creditors Management: Assist in the full function of creditors, including preparing and reconciling accounts.
  • Debtors Management: Assist with the processing of invoices and recovery of monthly invoices, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Month-End Processes: Manage and execute month-end closing procedures, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Fixed Assets: Take full control of fixed assets, including acquisition, disposal, and depreciation.
  • Year-End Audit: Prepare the audit file and coordinate with auditors to facilitate the year-end audit process.
  • Costing and Control: Oversee costing processes and implement control measures to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Monthly Management Accounts: Prepare and present monthly management accounts to the senior management team.
  • Depreciation Calculation: Accurately calculate depreciation on all relevant assets.
  • Provisions and Accruals: Manage provisions and accruals to reflect accurate financial positions.
  • Journal Processing: Process journals, including those related to payroll, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy.
  • Payments Preparation: Prepare payment lists and requisitions, ensuring all payments are processed timely and correctly.
  • Tax Compliance: Manage income tax and VAT submissions, including communication with SARS to resolve any tax issues.
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Perform additional accounting duties as required to support the finance team.

Qualifications and Skill required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Completed SAIPA Articles (non-negotiable)
  • Minimum of 3 years post articles experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
