Position Summary Industry: Education & Training Job category: Education and Training Location: Vanderbijlpark Contract: Permanent About Our Company NWU Introduction NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (VANDERBIJLPARK CAMPUS) FACULTY OF ECONOMIC AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES – SCHOOL OF ACCOUNTING SCIENCES POSITION NUMBER: V VACANCY: SENIOR LECTURER PEROMNES GRADE: A7 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT APPOINTMENT Job Description Purpose of the Position: Senior Lecturer: Provide teaching and learning services as well as a research function. Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning: Teaching assigned classes according to the NWU teaching and learning strategies. Research: Research outputs as to be discussed with PGL and DD. Community engagement: Actively contribute to community engagement projects as part of the school of Accounting Sciences (SAS). Minimum Requirements An honours degree in Chartered Accountancy or a postgraduate diploma in Chartered Accountancy (CTA). A minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in a tertiary environment. Registration with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) as a CA(SA). Added Advantage A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the field as an Accountant. Key Functional/Technical Competencies A working knowledge of essential technical competencies required in the field of Auditing. Knowledge of working with students, handling large classes, setting of assessments. Knowledge of the process of research and an eagerness to conduct research. Interest in community service. Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint and Word). Knowledge of Accounting-related software packages. Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the multilingual environment of the NWU. Behavioural Competencies Professional and ethical behaviour. Adaptability / Agility. Remuneration The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
