About the Role
Our client, a dynamic architectural practice based in Klerksdorp , North West , is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Architectural Technician. This role is integral to supporting the architects in developing and detailing construction projects. You will be responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings, 3D models, and documentation that translate design concepts into buildable solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, proficiency in CAD software, and a thorough understanding of building construction and regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician to contribute to significant projects within the Klerksdorp area and gain valuable experience within a collaborative and professional firm. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, sections, and elevations using CAD software.
- Develop and maintain 3D models for design visualization and coordination purposes.
- Assist architects in the preparation of design development and construction documentation.
- Produce specification documents and schedules for building materials and components.
- Conduct site visits to gather information and verify existing conditions.
- Coordinate with engineers and consultants to ensure the integration of structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Ensure all drawings and documentation comply with South African National Building Regulations and relevant standards.
- Prepare documentation for building permit applications.
- Maintain project archives and ensure efficient organization of technical information.
- Support the architectural team throughout the project lifecycle from concept to completion.
Requirements
- A National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Architectural Technician or Drafter.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D) is essential. Experience with Revit or ArchiCAD is a strong advantage.
- Solid understanding of South African building codes, construction methods, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
- Experience in preparing tender documentation is beneficial.
- Eligibility for registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) as a professional or candidate technician.
