About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Remote Geotechnical Engineer to provide crucial expertise in slope stability, ground support, and underground excavation design for their mining projects nationwide. This is a fully remote position, requiring a self-motivated individual who can effectively collaborate with site-based teams and management from their home office. You will analyze geotechnical data, develop design recommendations, and conduct risk assessments to ensure the safety and stability of mine structures. The role is vital for mitigating geological risks and optimizing mining methods through sound geotechnical engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations, including the interpretation of field and laboratory testing data.
- Design and recommend appropriate ground support systems for underground mine openings and open-pit slopes.
- Perform stability analyses for slopes, excavations, and surface infrastructure using specialized software.
- Develop geotechnical risk assessments and mitigation strategies for mining projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to site-based engineering and operations teams remotely.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a significant portion focused on the mining industry.
- Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software (e.g., Rocscience suite, FLAC).
- Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and numerical modeling techniques.
- Excellent report writing and remote communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
