About the Role

Our client is a growing UK-based self-storage operator with multiple locations nationwide and thousands of customers across the country. They form part of a privately owned group with interests in self-storage, property development, and farming. They are seeking a Fully Qualified Management Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or international equivalent) to work remotely from South Africa, supporting their UK-based group of companies. This is a hands‑on, commercially focused role requiring strong technical ability, excellent communication skills, and the discipline to operate effectively in a fully remote environment. You will work closely with UK‑based directors and operational teams, with regular virtual meetings and clear reporting structures.

Key Responsibilities

Management Accounts & Reporting

  • Full preparation of monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) across group entities
  • Lead month‑end close including accruals, prepayments and journals
  • Provide clear variance analysis and performance commentary
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Prepare end‑of‑crop costings for farming operations
  • Deliver structured reporting packs to senior management

Payroll & Compliance (UK)

  • Oversee and process UK payroll (experience with UK payroll systems preferred)
  • Manage pension contributions, statutory payments and reconciliations
  • Ensure VAT returns and statutory submissions are completed accurately and on time

Finance Operations

  • Maintain balance sheet control accounts
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Process HP finance agreements
  • Prepare and manage payment runs

Business Support

  • Collaborate remotely with UK operational teams
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Provide ad‑hoc financial modelling and analysis

Remote Working Requirements

  • Based in South Africa with the ability to work UK business hours
  • Strong internet connectivity and dedicated home office setup
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Experience supporting UK businesses preferred

Skills / Qualifications

  • Fully Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or international equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years' accounting experience
  • Strong Excel and accounting systems experience
  • Experience in multi‑entity reporting is desirable
  • Experience in asset‑heavy businesses advantageous
