Civil & PV Field Construction Supervisor | Renewable Energy Project | Contract | Postmasburg, Northern Cape

Introduction

Our client, a global engineering and construction company, is seeking an experienced Civil & PV Field Construction Supervisor to oversee and coordinate civil and solar field construction activities for a large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) project in the Northern Cape. This is a project-based contract until November 2027.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervise daily civil and solar field construction activities.
• Coordinate contractors, subcontractors and site teams.
• Monitor earthworks, foundations, roads, drainage and associated infrastructure.
• Supervise solar field/PV-related installation activities.
• Ensure construction complies with approved drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor construction progress.
• Ensure adherence to HSE, quality and environmental requirements.
• Identify construction risks, delays and non-conformances and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers and other disciplines.
• Review construction documentation and technical information.
• Maintain daily progress reports and site records.
• Support inspections, testing, punch-list activities and project close-out.
• Ensure contractors meet programme, quality and productivity targets.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ construction supervision experience, preferably on large-scale renewable-energy projects.
• Experience in solar PV/civil construction or power plant projects highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of earthworks, foundations, roads and associated civil works.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience managing contractors and subcontractors.
• Good knowledge of South African OH&S and construction requirements.
• Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Computer literate with good reporting and documentation skills.
• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
