Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging Afrikaans language and literature lessons to students in grades 8 through 12.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and promotes academic growth.
- Design assessments and provide constructive feedback to students to support their learning objectives.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary teaching strategies and resources.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school administrators regarding student performance and any concerns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Relevant qualification for teaching Afrikaans at a high school level.
- Experience teaching Afrikaans language and literature to students in grades 8 through 12 is preferred.
- Familiarity with the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) curriculum is advantageous.
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- S.A.C.E. (South African Council for Educators) registered or eligible for registration.
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate students.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Adaptability and flexibility to meet the needs of individual students and the school community.
