Maintenance Supervisor: Mechanical Fitters

 The Fitters department currently has a vacancy for a Mechanical Fitter Supervisor to join the team. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Responsible for supporting the Manager to drive routine planned and preventative maintenance procedures and protocolsUsing computerized maintenance management system to plan, track and record daily tasks as well as raising new work requestsAbility to provide technical and hands-on support to team during critical breakdowns as and when required on all Production machineryMonitor quality and efficiency of teams work programs and report any issues or possible improvementsSupport Management in ensuring compliance of timekeeping, productive output, quality output and discipline within the Fitters departmentConducting regular quality control checks of inspections undertaken by fitters personnel across all production machineryLiaise and coordinate with internal departments on machine availability and progress of jobsManaging the servicing of any mechanical componentsAssist the Manager with liaising with suitable Contractors, suppliers and sourcing quality parts and sparesAssist the Manager with ensuring compliance to legal requirements, Health & Safety rules, and Company policies and procedures.Ensure that a high quality of work and safety standards are maintained at all timesPromote Compliance and adherence to the Company in-house maintenance program and procedures including managing manpower utilizationSupport the Teams by offering Technical training and on the job guidance and mentoringAny other tasks, as agreed with Management, suited to this level of leadershipQualifying Criteria:Qualified Fitter Artisan (Red Seal certification)Minimum Grade 12 or equivalentMinimum 8 years’ experience as a Qualified Fitter in a heavy industry environmentProven Experience in a leadership role or positionMust be physically fit and able to work at heightsMust be able to work in confined spacesValid driver’s licenseExtensive knowledge of power toolsKnowledge and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Rules and regulationsAbility to work under challenging conditionsExcellent communication skills (understand, read and write in English)Computer Literate – Proficient with MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS WordQualifying AttributesAttention to detail and an analytical approach to troubleshootingAbility to prioritise workload and perform effectively in a pressurized environmentAbility to maintain professional working relations with diverse personalitiesHard-working and self-motivatedTime and priority managementLogical and detail orientatedExcellent standards of executionClear leadership abilityCritical thinking and conflict resolution potentialCommitment to a strong business ethic and integrityExcellent planning, organisational, and decision-making skillsReporting to: Fitters ManagerJob type: Permanent positionBenefits include· Provident fund· Life cover at 4x annual salary· Funeral cover· 15 x paid leave days per annum· Long service leave after five years of employmentStandard hours07h30–17h00: Monday – Thursday07h30–16h00: FridayMay be required to work overtime as per operational requirements We regret that it is not possible to contact all unsuccessful applicants.
