About the Role
Our client, a prominent sports complex in Upington, Northern Cape , is seeking a diligent and proactive Sports Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. This role is crucial for ensuring that all sports fields, courts, and associated facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and functionality. The Maintenance Supervisor will lead a team of maintenance staff, manage maintenance schedules, oversee repairs and preventative maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. We are looking for an individual with strong technical knowledge in facility maintenance, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to providing a pristine environment for athletes and visitors. Your expertise will be vital in upholding the reputation and operational excellence of our sports facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team.
- Develop and implement schedules for routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of all sports facilities and grounds.
- Ensure sports fields, courts, and common areas are kept clean, safe, and in optimal condition.
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of groundskeeping equipment and machinery.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, ensuring swift resolution.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
- Manage budgets for maintenance operations and supplies, seeking cost-effective solutions.
- Liaise with external contractors for specialized maintenance or repair services when needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of building and grounds maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Experience in maintaining sports fields and courts is highly advantageous.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
- Proficiency in managing maintenance schedules and work orders.
- A commitment to health and safety standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Valid driver's license.
