About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Technical Specialist in the Property sector to join a dynamic infrastructure investment team. The successful candidate will ensure that property sector investments are technically sound, financially viable, environmentally sustainable, and socially responsible. This role combines deep sector expertise with financial and project acumen, supporting investment origination, due diligence, portfolio management, and technical advisory across large-scale property and infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities:Technical Advisory and ExpertiseProvide expert technical guidance and sector-specific insights for property infrastructure projects.Stay current on emerging technologies, policy developments, and global best practices.Diagnose complex sector challenges and design practical, sustainable solutions.Lead or contribute to technical consultations, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure technical alignment across project stages. Investment Support and Programme DevelopmentConduct technical due diligence on property infrastructure transactions.Identify and mitigate technical and sector-specific risks to enhance project bankability.Support project preparation through feasibility studies, business planning, and innovative solutions.Contribute to the design of new products and services aligned with development mandates.Assess sector impact of proposed investments, including market environment, regulatory frameworks, and risk mitigation.Provide technical recommendations to support investment approvals.Monitor and evaluate sectoral outcomes and ensure compliance with agreed technical and environmental standards. Sector Governance and Stakeholder EngagementPresent research findings and investment insights to decision-making committees.Develop and implement sector strategies, guidelines, and technical frameworks.Provide credible technical advice to clients, governments, and finance partners.Build strong stakeholder relationships to align expectations and gather insights. Innovation and Continuous ImprovementChampion innovation and continuous improvement in property infrastructure investment.Identify opportunities to enhance processes, products, and services using technical knowledge and industry insights.Explore and implement cutting-edge technologies or methodologies to drive efficiency, quality, and value. Reporting and AnalyticsPrepare and present high-quality, data-driven technical reports and assessments.Analyse complex data to deliver actionable insights for decision-making and risk mitigation. Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Property Development, Real Estate, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or related field.Minimum 10 years’ experience in the property sector, ideally in development finance, commercial banking, or infrastructure advisory.Proven track record in structuring and preparing investment-ready property infrastructure projects.Experience in public-private partnerships (PPPs) and large-scale transaction advisory services.Strong professional network and senior stakeholder relationships across the property sector in South Africa and Africa.Understanding of critical development challenges and opportunities across the property investment value chain.Knowledge of sustainable development principles, climate adaptation, and inclusive service delivery.Experience in designing technical and financial solutions to enable deal closure and mobilise private or blended finance. Desirable:Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Development Studies, Sustainable Development, Infrastructure Planning, or an MBA.Professional registration with recognized engineering or sectoral professional bodies (e.g., ECSA). Key Competencies and Personal Attributes:Customer service orientation, aligning technical solutions with stakeholder needs.Strategic, innovative, and analytical thinker.Strong project management, financial acumen, and business development skills.Ability to influence and deliver results in a complex multi-stakeholder environment.Teamwork, collaboration, organisational awareness, and adaptability. Why Apply?This is an exciting opportunity for a senior property infrastructure specialist to contribute to high-impact, sustainable investments, provide expert technical guidance, and shape the future of property development and infrastructure projects across South Africa and the wider African region.
