Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Mentorship:

    • Lead and manage a team of PHP developers, providing technical guidance, support, and mentorship.

    • Conduct regular code reviews, pair programming sessions, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

    • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and QA teams to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.

    • Manage team resources, track progress, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
    • Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by staying up to date with the latest trends, frameworks, and tools in the PHP ecosystem.
    • Lead efforts to refactor legacy code and implement best practices for code maintainability.
    • Encourage team members to contribute to open-source projects, share knowledge, and explore innovative solutions.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong proficiency in PHP , including experience with popular frameworks like Laravel , Symfony , or Zend Framework .
    • Solid understanding of HTML , CSS , JavaScript , and modern front-end libraries/frameworks (e.g., React , Vue.js ) is a plus.
    • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL , PostgreSQL ) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB ).
    • Familiarity with RESTful APIs , GraphQL , and web services integration.
    • Experience with version control tools, especially Git .
    • Knowledge of unit testing and automated testing frameworks (e.g., PHPUnit , Behat ).

  • Leadership Skills:

    • Previous experience leading or managing a team of developers in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships across teams.
    • Ability to mentor and guide junior developers, promoting a culture of growth and knowledge sharing.
    • Proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and provide solutions before they impact project timelines.

  • Project Management & Organisational Skills:

    • Experience with Agile project management methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Comfortable working with project management tools such as Jira , Trello , or Asana .

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality code on time.
    • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and a fast-paced work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and containerisation technologies.
  • Knowledge of front-end development frameworks and tools (e.g., React , Vue.js , Webpack ).
  • Experience with Node.js , Python , or other back-end technologies is a plus.
