Geological Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and skilled Geological Technician to support their exploration and mining operations in Rustenburg . In this role, you will assist geologists with field sampling, data collection, and preliminary analysis of geological information. You will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of geological data gathered from exploration sites, contributing to the understanding of mineral deposits. This position offers a blend of field and office-based work, providing valuable experience within the dynamic North West mining landscape, with potential for some remote work on data analysis tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect geological samples (rock, soil, core) from exploration sites, ensuring proper labeling and preservation.
• Assist geologists with mapping, logging drill core, and documenting geological features in the field.
• Prepare samples for laboratory analysis and maintain detailed field records.
• Conduct preliminary data entry and quality control checks on geological information.
• Operate and maintain basic field equipment and geological tools.
• Support the preparation of geological reports and presentations under supervision.

Requirements

• National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Geology or a related Earth Science field.
• 1-3 years of experience in a geological support role, preferably within the mining industry.
• Basic understanding of geological principles and mineral identification.
• Familiarity with field sampling techniques and safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently in outdoor environments and in a team setting.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
