Our client, a reputable firm specializing in outsourced financial services, is looking to hire a seasoned Senior Bookkeeper to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, coupled with a professional accounting designation. Being a technology-driven firm and emphasizes streamlining business accounting and operational processes through innovative solutions. The Senior Bookkeeper will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting while contributing to our culture of continuous improvement and long-term business relationships.

The position is based in Claremont. Remote work will be considered under certain circumstances.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage full-cycle accounting processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements and reports to assist with strategic decision-making.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable to ensure smooth cash flow and clear financial standing.
  • Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and standards, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of industry-specific accounting standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate with tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.
  • Drive continuous improvement of accounting and financial processes through technology leverage, displaying autonomy in decision-making and process enhancements.
  • Liaise with other departments for integrated and accurate financial reporting.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Interact with external auditors, aiding in audit preparation to ensure all financial documentation is compliant and accurate.
  • Engage with clients at all levels promptly as exemplary communication is integral to Clients service levels.


Qualifications or Experience:

  • A Bachelor''s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Professional accounting designation (e.g. SAICA, SAIPA etc) is preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years of proven experience in a senior bookkeeping or accounting role.
  • Familiarity with South African financial regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Specific Software or Tools:

  • Proficiency in using SARS eFiling system.
  • Experience with tax and reporting software like Draftworx is preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Dext, Hubdoc, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar is required.
  • Experience with payroll software such as PaySpace, Sage Payroll.
  • Familiarity with tax preparation software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based financial tools and integrations.
  • Familiarity with Client''s preferred systems like Dext/Hubdoc, Xero, PaySpace, Karbon, Efiling, and Syft Analytics would be a bonus.
