Non- negotiable qualifications and experience required:
  • Bachelors degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-10 years of experience in exterior or structural design within the shipbuilding or marine industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, hydrodynamic simulation tools, and structural analysis programs.
  • Location Requirement: Candidates should either be South African residents currently living in the Netherlands or South Africans willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
  • Fluency in Afrikaans (both written and spoken).

Beneficial requirements:
  • Knowledge of maritime regulations and standards for vessel construction and safety.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Design and develop the exterior surfaces and structures of vessels, ensuring hydrodynamic performance, durability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to integrate aesthetic, functional, and structural requirements for vessel exteriors.
  • Conduct simulations and tests to assess the performance of hull designs and materials in various environmental conditions.
  • Oversee material selection for exterior components to ensure resistance to corrosion, environmental wear, and mechanical stress.
  • Ensure all designs comply with safety and regulatory requirements, coordinating approvals as necessary.
