Senior Metallurgist

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly skilled Senior Metallurgist to lead process optimization initiatives at their facility in Vereeniging. This role is critical for enhancing the efficiency, recovery rates, and cost-effectiveness of mineral processing operations. You will be responsible for analyzing current processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing innovative metallurgical solutions. Working closely with the operations and R&D teams, you will drive advancements in metallurgical techniques to maximize value from extracted ores. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize metallurgical processes to improve mineral recovery, product quality, and operational efficiency.
• Conduct metallurgical test work, interpret results, and develop practical solutions for processing challenges.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on process design, scale-up, and troubleshooting.
• Develop and implement process control strategies to ensure consistent and optimal plant performance.
• Collaborate with engineering and operational teams on plant modifications and capital projects.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in metallurgical processing, with a focus on base metals or precious metals.
• Proven track record in process optimization and troubleshooting in a mineral processing plant environment.
• Strong knowledge of various metallurgical unit operations (e.g., flotation, leaching, smelting).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to lead technical teams.
