Our client is a leading full-service commercial Bank, is looking for SQL Database Administrator to join their team. The company operates across ten African countries, the UAE and UK, with representative offices in China, India and Lebanon. Theyre evolving to redefine the power of relationship.

JOB MISSION:

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, support, and maintenance of all MSSQL databases supporting applications in the bank. The incumbent will assist stakeholders and technical teams with projects, ad-hoc task, and investigations of database related matters on MSSQL and other RDBMS platforms as well as unstructured database platforms. The individual must adhere to related procedures to include organizational standards and policies.

YOUR DAY TO DAY

Database Infrastructure:
  • Install, configure, and manage SQL Server instances across multiple environments
  • Upgrading and migrating database instances
  • Configuring and managing database clusters and high availability solutions (AOAG)
  • Perform database capacity planning and forecasting
Database Security:
  • Manage database security and permissions (Users, roles etc)
  • Install patches
Database Performance and Maintenance:
  • Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance
  • Perform regular database maintenance (tuning, index rebuilding, updating statistics etc)
  • Configure proactive monitoring and alerting
Database Backup and Recovery:
  • Configure, manage, and test backup and recovery strategies
  • Ensuring that all technical documentation is regularly updated, and new procedures are properly documented
Support Regular, Ad-hoc and Project work:
  • Database refreshes, data fixes and schema updates
  • Involved in designing technical specifications for new system implementations and system changes
Business Planning and Decision Making:
  • Provides input for short-term and long-term operational planning in respect of existing and emerging technology
Policies and Procedures:
  • DB Policies and procedures
  • Patch/security update as per agreed business OLA
  • Daily/Weekly and Monthly Reporting
  • Logging and resolving Helpdesk calls as per agreed business OLA
  • Database monitoring and fine tuning
  • Licensing management

MINIMUM ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Degree or technical diploma in Computer Science or related field
  • Proven, demonstrable knowledge in managing MS SQL Databases Knowledge in Oracle, MySQL and other RDBMS is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and an understanding of T-SQL
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server platforms
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Minimum of 3 years MS SQL experience
