Procurement Officer / Technical Buyer Somerset West

Were looking for a passionate individual to enhance our Operations Team, specializing in the procurement of electronics and mechanics for our production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Request quotations and order materials from approved suppliers to meet production demands.
  • Maintain optimal material levels and ensure accurate documentation in the ERP system.
  • Create and submit Purchase Orders for approval in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate external providers for compliance with AS9100 standards.
  • Conduct incoming inspections of received materials.
  • Capture purchased stock and materials in the ERP system.
  • Address supplier queries promptly and efficiently.
  • Communicate vendor and supplier updates to team members and management.
  • Maintain and update supplier information, including qualifications, delivery times, and product ranges.
  • Adhere to current company procurement procedures and policies.
  • Perform additional support roles as required within the company.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing or equivalent experience (10+ years).

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 2-5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent administrative and organizational abilities.
  • Strong planning and coordination skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Understanding of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and associated challenges.
  • Proactive in managing technical queries between suppliers and engineers.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in procuring electronic components.
  • Familiarity with coordinating international shipping from suppliers.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.

General Skills:

  • Quick learner with the ability to absorb new information rapidly.
  • Team player with the capability to collaborate on large projects.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • High standard of communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
