As a Bar Attendant / Barista, you will work in any food and beverage outlet such as room service, restaurant and conference and events. You will prepare the area for service, welcome and interact with customers, take orders and serve drinks. Interpret guests needs and translate them into beverage recommendations that impress. Prepare coffees at a consistent standard, upselling products and meeting targets.
Requirements
- Matric essential
- Recognized mixology and barista certification or similar recognized hospitality accredited qualification
- 1 - 2 years’ experience as a bartender and barista in an upmarket environment
- Ability to work various shifts including day/night shifts, weekend and public holidays
- Work across multiple functions (restaurant, room service, etc.)
- Use of Micros Symphony and speed point machine operation
- In-depth knowledge of wine, cocktails, spirits and coffee selections
Competencies
- Neat and professional appearance
- Up to date with market trends
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Menu terminology, menu knowledge and an in-depth knowledge of wine, cocktails, spirits and coffees
- Selling and up-selling skills
- Ability to use technology ie. speed point machine
